For three years Vertex Pharmaceuticals have refused to offer the NHS a fair price for their cystic fibrosis drug, Orkambi, meaning children are dying without access. Plan A has failed. It is time to stop Vertex holding children’s lives to ransom. The government should trigger Plan B - using their legal power to break Vertex’s monopoly and buy affordable generic Orkambi for the NHS.
